Melody purred, watching over the fish right infront of her as the river trickled. She was a year old now, 12 moons exactly and her parents were out hunting for her. "I should catch my own meal, shouldn't I?" she said to herself, I'm no longer a helpless kit". Melody was a young Norweigen Forest cat. Shine and Tally were her parents, young and restless as she was. Melody was still barely at an apprentice age and always acted like one. Her green eyes held adventure and curiousity within every inch.

A brown cat sat, simply, in one position. His muscles were bunched, especially in his hindquarters in that position, making him feel uneasy, should a threat arise. He thought of shifting his position, when a sound alerted him, that made him froze. At once, he was tense and alert, every fibre of him screaming to attack or run. His instincts began to take over, when he somehow managed to slow down his thought process and take a proper look at what he had just heard. It was another cat. This, he told straight away. A young cat; possibly younger than himself, although definitely smaller, this didn't necessarily mean less of age. She seemed happy, an emotion, which for a moment, confused him.
As he began to relax, his eyes crinkled with amusment. This cat seemed so happy, so content, a feeling that he had not experienced from any cat, for most of his life. For him, life was a constant struggle. Being alone, now, made things even worse. He was constantly on the alert, survival always taking hold of him, bringing out the worst in his nature. He knew this could all change in an instant though, should the small, cream cat become aware of his presence. Acting natural would be his best bet. Taking a deep breath, he strolled out, acting unawares. With his long stride, he was carried quickly don't to the river's bank, and took a long draught.

Melody scented another cat, a somewhat terrified, dangerous scent came off in waves around the other figure. She could tell he was somewhere, hiding along the plant life in her sideways view. "H-hello?" she decided to call out, wondering right after she had spoken what she had believed was right, would change her mind in a flash, depening on what the strange being would do. Acting fast, she bolted up a nearby tree, looking down at the loner from above, behing his little bush. Melody noticed a change in his uneasy scent, striding into a much more significant emotion to her- calm admiration. Watching as the loner trekked down to the small river in which she had been heading to fish, she thought it wouldn't be too bad to say hello and properly introduce herself. Slipping down the tree, she stayed a couple foxlengths behind, hoping....just maybe....she wouldn't have to speak first.

Saga felt the tint of ice - cold water touch his tongue, moving up to leave his jaws dripping. It was fresh, the most moisture he had experienced in days. He was grateful for it, and he drunk his fill. He was in pretence. He knew that a younger cat sat, not far from him, but he thought he had recognized the fear - scent that came from her pelt, and thought it best to let her think she had the upperhand. Turning around, he let his eyes scan the underground, their pale yellow gaze missing almost nothing. There. A faint shape; somewhat light in color, though the shadows could be misleading. His head tilted and he tried to make his body language as friendly as possible. He hoped she was watching, for his actions would seem rather amusing to a casual bypasser, if there happened to be one. 'Is someone there ?' His voice rang firm and confident; surely more than he truly felt, facing an unknown cat.

Her pelt bristled in excitement and she couldn't help with smile, 'He doesn't look so dangerous' she told herself, not being able to wait to make a good impression on what could be her first friend. "I'm here!" she called out, her voice a bit kittish, but she shook it off, her pelt gently shaking. Something told her that he had meant to act the way he was at the moment, but maybe this would just give her a chance to get near. Trotting down the the stream, sitting across from him she bent down to lick a couple mouthfuls of water. "I-I'm Melody" she spoke thoughtfully, her voice shaking a bit, unable to predict his next move. "err.....I didn't know you were around here" Melody explained, trying to make conversation, finally noticing all the different tints in his brownish pelt, and yellow eyes. 'Wow, he looks nothing like a loner" she thought, tail waving infront of her in order to calm her anxiety.

The brown cat moved further away from the river bank, his jaws still dripping with the faintest traces of water; the only sign that he had ever drunken. Saga dipped his head to her. He recognized her mingled excitement and perhaps apprehension. 'An honor to meet you,' his voice was surprisingly deep, and grave. 'My name is Saga.' After he had finished this sentence, his dappled paw came up, moving in circular motions over his face, as if cleaning it. Although, as Melody began to speak again, he stopped and looked at her intently, as if interested in what she had to say, and was prepared to give her his full and undivided attention. 'I'm not surprised,' he mewed at last, the faintest traces of amusement beginning to hint his tone. 'Often, many cats do not realize my presence.' He stopped and stared, his head tilting, before breaking the contact, sighing gently. He would perhaps seem a little lost to her, but he wasn't; that was his general nature. 'And what about yourself ? Do you, perhaps, live here ?'

Shyly, Melody sat down, paws tucked under her chest as she looked into the slow moving waters of the river. "Nice to meet you, Saga" she purred, thinking how cool of a name that must be. SHe saw a small silver fish swim by, but she flailed out a paw before it could get out of reach. THe fish bounced around on the earthy ground before she killed it, then bit into it for a small snack. It might've been small, but it was very enjoyable to her taste buds. "So, what kind of prey to you eat? Do you like fish?" she asked, popping her head up after swallowing a small bite of fish. Melody listened intently about how no one really realized his presence, "Well...I noticed you, it can't be that hard to" she told him akwardly, her tail twitching. Finishing the fish, she burried its carcass, scraping dirt over it. "As a matter of face,I do" Melody purred, "I love near a small stream near a hollowed out tree...That would be our den". Melody figured he would ask who she meant by 'our', but hoped she wouldn't have to speak much farther about her life to a stranger.

A flicker of surprise bordering on annoyance showed in his amber eyes, but nothing more. She had noticed him ? How unusual. He tried to keep his focus, which was proving to be quite a difficult task, as she jabbered on about prey and the place she lived. As she made a brief pause, he opened his mouth. 'No, I do not particularly like fish, though I will eat them if necessary; which happens to be quite often. Harsh time, harsh times.' Pausing, he lowered his head, shaking it gently from side to side. When he looked up at her again, his eyes were full of a strange light, an unreadable emotion. He did not speak any further, for he simply had nothing to say. He noted that she had said 'our', yet he was not the type of cat to pry. If she wanted to tell, she would. He knew that from past experiences. At last, the silence forcing him to continue he added; 'well, I suppose you'll be wanting to head back to your den, now ?' Although it was still quite light, surely she would prefer to spend time with the other, mysterious cat, than himself. A swish of his tail followed this statement, showing that he would truly prefer to keep talking; he seldom found company, and most he did, were frightened or aggressive, unwilling to associate with him. ~ Melody's piercing gaze locked onto the flowing water of the river behind Saga. "Do You even live around here?" she asked him after thinking for a couple of minutes, tail so still it was tense, "Or do you travel?" It was just something to get him talking he seemed so blunt about everything. Melody began to groom her chest fur nervously, feeling the gaze of his eyes practically burning her pelt. 'Things feel strange' She thought. ~

Saga looked around, finding the she - cat's intense gaze on the river. He had a sudden desire to step up beside her, and sit with her, watching the gentle flow pass them by. Yet as soon as this thought had entered his head, he felt instantly confused; confused about his feelings, and that unusual sweeping emotion that had come over him. Her voice forced his thoughts aside, and he basked in its gentle sweetness. 'I roam,' he began to tell her in little more than a murmur. 'All my life, I have been a wandering cat, except that. . .' - here, he paused, uncertain whether to go on - 'here, I feel the most at home I've ever felt in a place.' That statement came all in a rush, the words tumbling to come out of his mouth. He was aware of the stinging fact that he had revealed more of himself, than to any other cat; family included. 'Yourself ?' He had not moved closer to her, but the desire was still there, and he was resisting it; his claws digging into the ground.

Melody could feel a slight tingle coming in waves off of his pelt, although she could not identify the reason for his sudden uneasiness. She felt her pelt steaming, even when his gaze was not towards her, but to the ground. Her tail began to sway at a steady beat, trying to keep herself calm from the feelings that were constantly squirming inside her belly. Melody's green eyes sparkled his way and her head snapped up to meet eye contact when he spoke. For the few seconds that he spoke, each time with a pause that seemed brought on by an urge that he couldn't figure out what else to say. But his voice made the squirming stop and her muscles feel relaxed. Melody almost stiffled a purr, but stopped herself just in time to answer him, "That sounds...nice," she smiled, "I've never been to any other forest but this one" Melody felt a bit embarrassed when he asked about her, it was as though his full attention was averted to her and she couldn't figure out whether she liked that or not...She blinked several times, a slight blush rising in her cheeks. "I've really no need to roam in other places, my family is all here...well, mother and father of course," she shrugged, "But your life sounds so much more interesting then mine" she purred, not realizing that she was even doing so. Melody felt her heart swell and her tail was still moving back and forth, once actually brushing against Saga's paw. After that she quickly, and neatly tucked in away over her own paws, her gaze moving to the ground.

A young black wolf moved though rogue terriorty, his dry tongue hanging out of his mouth. His ribs stuck out under his lighter striped coat, his steps wobbley. Rogue felt his dark green collar hang from his neck, having no fat on him at all. Perking his ears forward, he can hear water running up ahead. Moving abit faster, he hurried up the hill. Peaking over, he saw two cats, one of them having a brown pelt. "Cats...as much as I like them as friends, I need to eat something," Rogue muttered quietly to himself. Creeping towards them, Rogue lowered himself into a stalking postation.

Melody starred at Saga for a bit, blinking and turning her head with a small gasp as she froze. A wolf stood right on the horizon of a small hill. And she could tell that it was scenting for food when its muzzle rose and the light hit it, the rays moving in all different directions. The scrawny, wolf turned its hungered gaze on her and a shiver went through her spine. Her eyes wide and panicked, she looked at Saga, whispered without moving, "W-wolf....!!" Melody instantly darted up into the nearest, highest tree, climbing up as far as should could, hoping....just praying that Saga would come up with her. She'd prefer he not be eaten!
