Here is a poem I had to write for English. We were studying Edgar Allan Poe, so, yh.....It WILL be sad, but it isn't that bad. I'll tell you what the whole thing means if you don't get it at the end. Welp, here it is!:
The Oak Tree
-In a tenanted forest, I came upon a tree
-So desolate and towering, some just couldn’t see the beauty
-Its branches spread like pinions, and echoes bounced off the leaves
-I sat against the trunk, pondering the lore of the trees
-My hand lay against the bleak, old bark, listening
-To a fowl that perched on a branch to sing
-I always came to the oak tree, when I needed discourse
-Although others didn’t, I saw its entombed respite
-I knew soon enough that the Seraphim could come for him.
-But I couldn’t help but to implore mercy for this tree that felt like kin.
-It was easy to tell that we were both weary
-Only, the oak tree looked dreary
-I asked it to please be placid, to have a surcease for his pallid look and replace it with something more peaceful
-But Aidenn was calling for him
-For this poor oak tree, I sang a dirge, wishing there was no morrow
-And that I could stay here
-With the oak tree and I without sorrow
In the beginning, a sweet girl is walking through the woods to get to her secret friend--an oak tree in which she loves. But sadly, once she gets there, she discovers that it is dying. And with this, she had already come to converse her sad feelings onto him, but now the tree communicates with nature to her--things SHE only understands. And now, with all of the years of her pouring out her problems and love to this tree, it's its turn--but it does that before it dies. And in the last two stanzas, she is explaining that she can't stay now, and doesn't want tomorrow to end because she knows that when she wakes up, she can't ever go again because the sight of the tree will sadden her too much.
Yes, I know, it's sad XDD I hope you enjoyed it, though! I'll take comments or even requests (Psst! I took a look as Serphies, too, they are AWESOME! Send her requests, too ^_^)
